Harvest Contract Manager

Qualifications •BS in forestry, BS/BA in a related field, or AS in forestry, or equivalent in experience •At least three years practical experience in logging. •Willingness and ability to role model and promote a safe work environment •Demonstrated knowledge of harvesting and transportation systems, their application, their cost structure and rate determination methods •Day-rate analyses and the tools associated with conducting these analyses such as time and motion studies •Contract administration •Ability to track and analyze logger production and cash flow; sufficient skill to recon tracts using on-site survey and aerial photos to make appropriate logging prescriptions; negotiating skills; fundamental understanding of various log and pulpwood scales and measures •Able to determine and use conversion factors between alternate scales and weights •Thorough understanding of quality specifications for raw material at all customer markets and how log characteristics affect delivered raw material and standing timber values •Ability to use cost, volume, quality and other supplier data to evaluate performance; knowledge of and ability to recognize conformance to safety, environmental, labor and transportation laws and regulations as they apply to the logging function •Demonstrated leadership in employee/contractor safety performance process improvement •Working knowledge of business/contract law •Strong communication skills, analytical skills and computer proficiency are required •Interpersonal skills and a willingness to work in self-motivated, self-directed environment as well as team-based activities is required •Understanding of total system concepts and a demonstrated ability to work across business and organizational boundaries is expected •Ability to use Microsoft Office software such as Word and Excel
