Description:RMK Timberland Group is recruiting a Summer Intern for our Research and Analysis Group, located in Athens, Georgia. The position will be funded from May to August, 2008.

We are looking for an individual seeking an entry-level experience in the timberland investment management industry. The successful candidate will be someone with a strong interest in research, who wants an opportunity to learn from an experienced team of investment professionals. The major focus of this position is in research and analysis. It is not an operations position.

The successful candidate will support a wide range of projects, including the areas of:

Timber and Land Prices: Collection, organization and analysis of timber and land price databases
Timber Stands- and Properties: Assist with planning for properties currently managed by RMK Timberland Group
Property Acquisitions: Assist in analyzing prospective timberland investments

Location: Athens

Qualifications: Educational requirements include an undergraduate degree in forestry or related discipline. In addition, at least one year of coursework towards an advanced degree in forestry (MS, MF, or equivalent) or business (MBA) is required. Appropriate coursework includes economics, finance, biometrics, statistics and management science. Strong written and verbal communications skills are essential. Knowledge of a second language, in addition to English, is desirable. Prior employment with a timberland investment management company, the forest products industry, or forestry consulting would be a plus. Although the intern will work primarily with the Research and Analysis Group, some opportunities will be provided for periodic field visits with RMK regional forestry staff. The ideal candidate will have well-developed interpersonal skills and be able to work with a high degree of independence. This person will be self-motivated and capable of deriving significant job satisfaction from learning to assemble needed resources and guiding projects to successful completion.
