Description:Position Function: MSU-ES/Wildlife and Fisheries is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a full-time professional non-faculty position in the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The position will be administratively responsible for Wildlife and Fisheries Extension activities statewide and under the supervision of the Extension Wildlife Specialist.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Extension Associate will be programmatically responsible to the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to 1) working with landowners and implementing programs regarding wildlife management; 2) coordinating training sessions and contests for the 4-H Wildlife Habitat Evaluation Program (WHEP); 3) coordinating and conducting field tours and workshops concerning wildlife management; 4) assisting Extension Wildlife Specialist with research activities; 5) cooperating on writing research/demonstration/outreach proposals for funding under the leadership of Extension Wildlife Specialist; 6) cooperating on the writing and development of extension publications, technical publications, popular articles, and website information under the leadership of Extension Wildlife Specialist; and 7) responding to phone calls and emails regarding wildlife management issues.

Qualifications: nowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to work unsupervised. Must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and be able to prioritize and organize both time and physical inventory. Successful candidate must be able to work with the public and with natural resource professionals. Successful candidate must have the ability to give oral presentations at informal settings and professional conferences. Candidate must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Power Point software. Ideally, the candidate would also be proficient in SAS, GIS/ArcView, and web programming software. Minimum Qualifications: B.S. degree in wildlife management, wildlife biology, wildlife ecology or related field plus 2 years of professional experience in wildlife management (game management, habitat management and/or wildlife damage management). Preferred Qualifications: M.S. degree in wildlife management, wildlife biology, wildlife ecology or related field.
