Description Background: IAP World Services, Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Biological Technician I to perform work on our contract with the USGS National Wetlands Research Center in Lafayette, LA. IAP World Services is the on-site technical services contractor and supports NWRC scientists in their research projects.
Position Description: This individual will support the regular operations of biological research by performing the following duties:
• Assist with collection of biological samples and descriptive data in the field.
• Process biological samples in the laboratory.
• Compile field data / laboratory data and enter data into computer programs.
• Build, maintain, and operate field, greenhouse, or laboratory equipment.
• Prepare uncomplicated summary reports.
Requirements: The position requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and knowledge of standard methods, techniques, and procedures used in conducting research studies in order to independently perform routine data collection duties. The individual must have the ability to recognize, identify, and record complete aspects of biological studies and safely use common hand tools, detergents, and cleaning agents.
