A Seasonal Biological Technician is needed to assist with radio telemetry studies on the Missouri River in central Montana. Technician will split time between radio tracking Spiny Softshells and several species of fish including Pallid Surgeon, Shovelnose Sturgeon, and Blue Sucker while working in conjunction with Bureau of Reclamation and Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks personnel. Sampling of turtles and fish using trammel and/or hoop nets may occur.
Experience with radio telemetry, data entry and management, boat operation and safety, and trailering is preferred. On site training for all project related activities will be provided by representatives of the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC).
Individuals selected for these positions would perform duties as seasonal contractors of the BOR employed by SAIC. The majority of work performed would be on the Missouri River between Fort Benton, MT and Fort Peck Lake. Approximately 90 percent of the season would be spent in the field, and 10 percent spent performing office duties such as data entry. Most work will be conducted via jet boat so boating knowledge and safety are of the utmost importance. Work will be conducted in all weather conditions from cold and rain to blazing heat. Some overnight camping along the river may occur. A work vehicle will be provided and housing will be provided as an RV trailer in Loma, MT.
