Description:Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, is a privately-owned non-profit
501(c)3 organization, incorporated as the Isaac W. Bernheim Foundation in
1929. Bernheim, located approximately 20 miles south of Louisville,
encompasses a 250 acre nationally-recognized arboretum, landscaped gardens,
tranquil lakes, and a 14,000 acre research forest managed as a natural area. In 1992, the Kentucky legislature honored Bernheim by designating it
Kentucky's Official Arboretum.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director will provide
vision and direction to and is responsible for overall programming and
management of Bernheim. We seek a proven leader with a successful track
record of strong management skills and fiscal integrity who possesses a
passion for conservation, natural habitats, horticulture and research. Prior success in fundraising for major gifts, corporate sponsors or large
foundation grants would be particularly helpful as would experience with
public funding processes. Additionally, an understanding of the unique
qualities inherent in a nonprofit institution and experience working with a
Board of Trustees, either as a professional or as a volunteer, would be
helpful.

Location: Bernheim

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required; a master's degree or higher is preferred. Evidence of continuing professional education in such areas as business management, marketing, or administration is a plus.
