One M.S. assistantship is available to conduct research on community sense of place and livelihood dependence on natural resources. This research aims to gather both spatial and rich qualitative evidence regarding community sense of place and attachment to/dependence on specific geographic locations. Research will be conducted in the Franklin and Gulf Counties of the Florida Panhandle. This research is part of a larger project that examines linkages between individual’s sense of place and the natural environment, community attachment, environmental impacts, and participation in local land-use issues.

Qualifications: Applicants should possess B.A. in the social sciences or related natural resource field. Applicants should have strong interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic. Introductory knowledge of GIS is helpful. Peer reviewed publications are expected as a product of this research.

Salary:
