* Job Location: 4220 International Parkway, Suite 101, Atlanta, Georgia, 30354 (by Hartsfield International Airport, off C.W. Grant Parkway at I-75, just north of I-75/I-285 interchange). Phone: (404) / 675-6236.

* The Intensive Surveys, Ambient Monitoring and Facilities Monitoring Units of the WPMP employ student workers in Environmental Technician positions. Employees in all three Units are field-oriented technicians.

* The wage for these positions is $9.50/hour. Employees are paid bi-monthly.

* Environmental Technicians are restricted by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to a maximum of 40 working hours per week. Standard office hours are 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. but field work typically involves non-standard work hours. Employees must be able to travel statewide for these positions. Per diem travel reimbursement is made to the employee for lodging, meals and other work-required expenses. The WPMP has field vehicles that are used for this work.

* Employees must have a valid driver’s license and are responsible for their own transportation to the office location. (Driver’s license does not have to be issued by the State of Georgia for out-of-state students enrolled in Georgia schools). Parking is free at the Atlanta Tradeport.

* Male Environmental Technician appointees between the ages of 18 and 26 must provide proof of registration with the Selective Service System.

* Environmental Technicians cannot participate in the State Flexible Benefits Program, which includes State Health Insurance and Deferred Compensation.

* Environmental Technicians are eligible to use the services of the Division’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

* Upon completion of employment with the State, mandatory withholdings for the retirement plan (“Defined Contributions”) are refunded with 4% interest if requested. Alternatively, the contributions may remain with the Employee Retirement System (ERS) and the time of employment as an Environmental Technician will be applied toward future service requirements for retirement from State Government.
