Description of Duties:

Serves as assistant project leader for South Florida Aquatic Resources Project - Okeechobee. Assist in the design of studies and monitoring activities to document and evaluate the biological characteristics of aquatic flora and fauna in Lake Okeechobee . Project lead for field implementation of studies and monitoring activities, and management of acquired biological data and metadata. Conducts appropriate statistical analyses of data, and prepares periodic technical reports and papers of scientific findings. Develops and implements management strategies for optimum resource use and sustained, long-term productivity of the aquatic resources of Lake Okeechobee . Courteously assists Commission constituents to resolve questions or problems they may have in matters relating to the Commission, it’s programs or fish and wildlife conservation, generally. Seeks to garner public support for agency objectives and programs by serving Florida ’s citizens in a positive and pro-active manner. Responsible for timely and accurate processing and or approval, as appropriate, of vendor invoices and warrants for payment of goods received or services rendered to avoid automatic interest penalty payments to said vendors. Responsible for adhering to the provisions and requirements of Section 215.422, F.S., related to State Comptroller’s rules and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures.

Level of Education:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the biological sciences and one year of professional biological experience in a field or laboratory program; or
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the biological sciences
