Bat technician

Description:Bat technician needed to study Rafinesquebs big-eared bats at the
Savannah River Site near Aiken, SC mid-May thru October 2008. Duties
include capture, handling, and radio-tagging bats, locating roost trees,
conducting emergence counts, locating bats at night during their
foraging period, measuring habitat characteristics, and surveying
potential roosts for bats. Qualifications include B.S. in wildlife
biology/ecology, conservation ecology, zoology, forestry, or related
field or equivalent experience, willingness to work an irregular
schedule, and ability to work in hot, humid conditions. Previous
experience with bats is preferred but not required. Applicants must be
U.S. citizens, have a valid driverbs license, have a good driving
record, and be willing and able to receive the rabies vaccination series
provided by the unit. Position is associated with the USDA Forest
