Position Description:
This position provides support across business units of Ducks Unlimited (DU) in the areas of constituent surveys, data analysis, and evaluation of Field Operations, Conservation, Marketing, Development and Communications initiatives.
Objectives are:
1) To increase DU’s understanding of existing and potential constituents’ expectations, lifestyle, and involvement in waterfowl conservation and hunting
2) To use this increased understanding to develop member and waterfowl hunter recruitment and retention strategies
3) To evaluate existing and proposed initiatives
4) To increase support for DU’s conservation programs
5) To recommend modifications
Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Develop a human dimensions focus and expertise within Ducks Unlimited (DU) and integrate human dimensions theory and methodology into DU programs, problem-solving, and decision-making
Consult with directors and managers across DU business units regarding constituent data, potential surveys, analysis, and interpretation of results
Synthesize existing information on changing user demographics, social trends, and opinion
Analyze existing information about DU event system, grassroots constituents, and recruitment and retention efforts; evaluate existing programs and initiatives; and recommend modifications
Source outside information to append to DU databases
Conduct constituent surveys using appropriate survey instruments (including mail surveys, web-based surveys, focus groups, public forums, etc.) to determine attitudes and expectations and to evaluate programs
Develop appropriate statistical analysis and data interpretation of results
Investigate and incorporate emerging survey and statistical techniques to evaluate new human dimensions technology and methodology
Collaborate with DU partners from conservation agencies, universities, etc. to develop and evaluate recruitment and retention strategies
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Masters Degree in Statistics, Sociology, Fisheries/Wildlife Biology, Business or related field and two (2) years experience in survey research and sampling
Core Competencies:
Ability to accept all responsibilities of the job and assigned tasks and to demonstrate technical proficiency in areas of responsibility
Ability to use provided computer technology and broad range of applications (e.g., SAS, SPSS, Access, Excel, etc.) to enhance the quality of work and programs
Experienced in human dimensions of conservation and knowledgeable in areas of social research methodologies and statistical analyses
Good communication skills and capacity and willingness to work as a team member and effectively collaborate to achieve shared goals
Ability to anticipate and respond to the needs of DU staff and provide service-oriented support for programs and initiatives
Ability to accept change and cope with a dynamic job environment; yet, maintain focus and intensity, and remain optimistic and persistent
Ability to clearly define a problem, analyze relevant information, develop solutions, and recommend modifications
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
Ability to occasionally travel and stay overnight
