Environment, Health and Safety Department (EHS)
The EHS Department, located in Roswell, Georgia, is the corporate environmental and safety services department for Kimberly-Clark’s worldwide operations. EHS team members keep current on changes in worldwide environmental regulations, handle permitting for new machines and plants, perform periodic Corporate Environmental Inspections and perform safety audits of mills worldwide. The Environmental Services team specifically provides environmental compliance expertise, including wastewater, air emissions, solid waste, hazardous waste, and environmental laboratory services.
Environmental Laboratory Co-Op Student
The Environmental Services Laboratory is an integral part of the EHS team, providing specific environmental services to Kimberly-Clark’s worldwide manufacturing operations and to product development research operations. The beginning work semester for the Environmental Laboratory Co-Op would be fall, 2008. The Co-Op would be expected to complete various wastewater laboratory testing, data evaluation and reporting and other multi-disciplined environmental tasks. The position would primarily assist in the laboratory, but could also be assigned to assist other team members with their job duties. Typical duties would include:
• Performing wastewater tests such as toxicity bioassays, biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, total suspended solids, etc.
• Evaluating wastewater test data and preparing appropriate reports.
• Proactively helping with laboratory maintenance and clean-up.
• Feeding of laboratory organisms, with possibility of some weekend work.
• Helping with non-lab multi-disciplined environmental projects.
Position qualifications and requirements include:
• Major in Biological Sciences. Consideration will be given to other majors and students having a strong desire to work in the environmental field.
• Maintenance of a 3.0 or above cumulative grade point average.
• Completion of at least one semester.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft® Word®, Excel® and PowerPoint®.
• The ability to travel on company business.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or have the permanent legal right to live and work in the U.S.
