Roles and Responsibilities

HTRG Valuation Analyst

Location: Charlotte, NC

General Directive: Responsible for providing valuation support for the
Global Resource Information and Planning team. Participates with
other members of the Resource Support Teams (RST) to provide and
maintain consistent, timely, accurate, value-added decision support in
the areas of forest information, harvest scheduling, tactical and long
term planning, forest inventory, and timber investment analysis for
various HTRG, HFM, and Hancock Natural Resource Group (HNRG) business
sectors. These tasks are to be performed in a team environment
involving the appropriate Hancock Forest Management (HFM), HNRG, and
Hancock Timber Resource Group (HTRG) personnel.

Scope:
● All commercial forest investment regions worldwide with a focus
on North America investment regions.
● Develop and maintain a strong relationship with appropriate
HTRG, HNRGA, HVP and HFM personnel.
● Service the continuous information and communication needs of
multiple teams based in multiple regions.
● Proficient in discounted cash flow analysis forest inventory
database and GIS systems, and microcomputer applications.
● Knowledgeable in areas of silviculture, forest mensuration,
harvest scheduling, timberland appraisal, growth and yield models, and
timber supply and demand modeling.
● Familiarity with general forestry operations


Job Dimensions:
● Member of the HTRG Global Forest Operations Group and Resource
Support Team
● Reports to – HTRG Manager of Global Resource Information and
Planning

Specific Duties (listing in relative order of priority):
● Assist with forest planning and investment modeling for
acquisitions and for existing client timberland properties.
● Assist with all phases of related acquisition projects as
directed by Manager of Global Resource Information and Planning
including investment modeling, due diligence, property parcelization,
and closing.
● Support the HTRG client account teams in providing information
and analysis
● Support HTRG Global Forest Operations special projects as needed
or requested
● Maintain library of forest modeling inputs including global
timber prices, production costs, yield assumptions, and manufacturing
capacities
● Assist with the review of annual Long Term Plans (LTPs) and
Comprehensive Property Management Plans (CPMPs).
● Support the efforts for analyzing and documenting cost / benefit
analysis of silvicultural investments and their impact on client
returns

HFM Resource Support Team Coordinate on forest planning and due
diligence activities to support acquisition efforts.
HTRG – Forest Resources Planner Provide assistance in all areas
as needed
HTRG – Manager of Global Resource Planning and Information
Systems Provide assistance in all areas as needed
HTRG – Global Forest Operations group Provide analysis
reporting as requested including special projects
HTRG Acquisitions Team Provide support for valuation, due diligence,
parcelization, closing as needed
HTRG – Client Account Teams Provide property information and
analysis as requested including support for comprehensive management
plans
