Description:2008)—The Southern Research Station of the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, is looking for two communications professionals to fill behind retirements. The incumbents will work in a close-knit team that edits and prepares manuscripts for printing in a variety of formats ranging from statistics-laden research papers to highly polished full-color pamphlets and books for the general public.
These positions require a high level of customer service and teamwork. They involve attention to detail; the incumbents must have the ability to manage several projects at one time and the flexibility to move from one job to another without losing concentration.

Location: Asheville

Qualifications: GS-7/9 editor (GS-1082)—An editor to work on the publications team of the Southern Research Station. Looking for someone who is well organized, can manage multiple projects at the same time, has a good eye for detail, and an understanding of the publications process. Requires strong interpersonal skills and oversight ability to work with contractors, scientists, and team members in a deadline-oriented environment. Knowledge of science, layout/graphics software programs, and the printing process is a plus.
