This position is assigned to the Three Rivers Resource Area of the
Burns District Office in Hines, Oregon. The Resource Area
encompasses approximately 1,800,000 acres of public land managed by
the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and includes land in three
Oregon counties. Primary resource management programs include range,
wildlife, forestry, watershed, recreation, realty, minerals, fire and
wild horses. The Wildlife Program is very strong in the Resource
Area and includes wetland management and development for waterfowl
and shorebirds, major portions of four mule deer herds and a
significant portion of a fifth mule deer herd, major portions of
three antelope herds and a significant portion of two antelope herds,
a significant portion of the Oregon sage grouse population, high
densities of nesting raptors, Bald Eagle roosting sites and a wide
variety of non-game wildlife. The Wildlife Biologist serves in the
Three Rivers Resource Area under the supervision of the Supervisory
Natural Resource Specialist and provides advice on all wildlife
matters and participates in all planning, programming, implementation
and evaluation of all activities and wildlife values in the Resource
Area.
