Description:This position is a 2 year grant funded opportunity to assist in the SL.owing A.sh M.ortality (SLAM) Emerald Ash Borer pilot project in the Moran/St. Ignace area of the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The field forester will be accumulating research based data regarding forest health and forest inventory and assisting landowners with their ash resource. The field forester will be assisting the field site coordinator and field crew in the Moran area with their seasonal projects as well as possibly assisting the field crews in the Escanaba/Manistique area and Houghton/Calumet area.
Approximately 75% of the job is field work and the remaining 25% will be spent in the office based in St.Ignace.
Applicants must be highly productive on an independent basis, very self motivated, and able to work alone regularly.
Occasionally, the Site Coordinator and the Forester for the project will make presentations to the various township and city boards with updates on the project. Public speaking is required.

Qualifications: Education Requirements: A.S. or B.S degree in a natural resources field from an accredited university. Necessary Job Skills: Forestry field experience, GPS knowledge, Excel and Word proficiency, email proficiency, good communication skills required.
