In the event that a hurricane should affect major electrical utility facilities, our services would be needed to fill requests for personnel. Primary objective is to restore safe reliable electric service, in the safest, most efficient manner possible. Work with electric utility company representatives, foresters, contractors, city officials and general public. Inspect and Identify tree related electrical hazards, damages to facilities, hazardous tree conditions, identify tree work required, taking necessary and appropriate action in response to findings. Document and tracking of work on paper and maps. Report and Communicate to supervisors and co-workers. Discuss and negotiate pending work with property owners and contractors as needed. Other specific duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: MUST be able to immediately mobilize to Hurricane prone areas upon notification, (Florida or Otherwise). Two or Four year degree preferred in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture or related discipline. Ability to recognize local tree species and knowledge of growth rates; ISA Certified Arborist, Utility Specialist Certifications a plus. Working knowledge of computers and GPS experience preferred. Strong ability to read and follow maps is required. Ability to drive and operate 4x4 vehicle. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather. Ability to work independently or team settings for extremely long hours; Prior hurricane work experience extremely valuable; Training for specific tasks or needs provided as needed. ABILITY TO TRAVEL UPON SHORT NOTICE IS REQUIRED (LESS THAN 24 TO 48 HOURS); Right-Of-Way vegetation, Electric Utility, telecommunications or Horticulture experiences are major pluses.
