Natural Resource Technician

 

SpecPro Professional Services (SPS) is seeking individuals experienced in providing natural resource management support. This individual will provide technical support to assist in development of management plans, execute land management activities, field data collection and data analysis associated with open lands and agricultural lease management.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

Conduct annual biological surveys for: vegetation, bees, monarchs, and others as requested.

Conduct field assessment surveys of agricultural fields for damage and program compliance as requested.

Conduct field assessment surveys of open fields to determine condition for open area management plan updates.

Implement open lands management utilizing manual, mechanical, and chemical methods.

Assist with prescribed fire.

Utilize ATV and UTV to conduct field work.

Use GPS or Esri mapping applications to conduct field mapping of: project boundaries, open or agricultural field boundaries, areas of management concern including invasive species, and projects as requested.

Use Arc Pro to maintain Geodatabases that support both open lands management and agricultural programs.

Create maps for open lands and agricultural program projects as requested.

Coordinate with internal and external agency staff to assist with implementation and planning of projects with program partners.

Update and provide recommendations to project management plans.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Biology or other closely related field preferred.

Plant identification skills and knowledge.

Familiarity with Arc Pro software.

Verbal and written communication skills.

Prefer someone with experience in pesticide application, and/or willing to obtain an applicator license.

Heavy equipment experience is not required but preferred.

Ability to work outside in various field conditions.
